So the same day it first snowed was also the first time I tried moose. It looks like real meat, smells like real meat, and, for the most part, tasted like real meat. It was kind of tough, but I think that’s because we didn’t prepare it correctly. We should have tenderized it before we cooked it. Oh well. Now we know for next time.
We got the moose from one of the other teachers in the village. Her husband is a local and he went out hunting and got himself a moose. It was pretty cool for him because it was his first time getting a moose. Ever. Anyways, she is a real sweet and generous lady and gave all of the other teachers in school some moose meat. It was pretty good. I think I’d eat it again.
I have not seen a real live moose though. I really want to, especially since certain people, namely my family, keep bugging me about it. Every time we talk on the phone, “Have you seen a moose yet??” Umm, NO!
Now I guess I can tell them I’ve seen a dead moose. But just the meaty part though. No fur or legs cut off or anything like that.

*Actually, I now have seen a cut up moose. My neighbor got a moose leg from one of the villagers and I got to see it. Yummy. I also saw a couple people driving through the village on their four-wheeler with cut up moose parts on it. It was pretty sweet.

Ew… The seeing cut up moose part not the eating the moose part!
Well, moose…that is something- else..haha..glad you tried it, you might never had gotten that chance anywhere else. I remember the first deer I cooked in a crock pot when we lived in the AZ mountains, I guess I couldn’t get over it when I was eating it so it made me really sick..( kinda like eating rabbit when I was growing up, my dad raised them for food, um, NO, not eating fluffy but thanks!) ewww…brave Heather!
